Piece of Cake

Two new cakes this weekend - a bridal shower and a christening. The bridal shower cake, a pink, white, and charcoal design was made to match the shower's invitations. Stationery and such small details as napkins or a venue's logo can be inspiration for cakes - I check out the wedding magazines for fun patterns and themes.  If you need ideas, these are some of the best places to look! The shower cake is also iced entirely with buttercream.

The christening cake was a variation of the first christening dress cake I did. The white cake was covered in icing and fondant, and the lace designs are piped icing. The roses (so fun because the baby's middle name is Rose!) are gumpaste.
