Sorry to miss a post here and there...been having some technological difficulties with the blogging feature. Check out two new cakes this weekend: The first was an 80th birthday cake for a man who still plays bass fiddle in a string band! The cake, which was pound, chocolate chip and chocolate ganache, and chocolate/ganache, and buttercream was covered in white fondant with navy and yellow accents. The cake features a figure of the honoree and his instrument along with a custom fondant 80 topper. What a fun cake, and it matched the party's decor perfectly! Happy Birthday. The second cake of the weekend was for a retirement party of Radnor's Chief of Police. I truly enjoy honoring police, firefighters, military, and teachers who do so much for our country. In fact I offer discounts if this is who the cake is for so please let me know. The cake which was classic white with buttercream was made to resemble the chief's badge. It is accented with gold lustre, handpainting, and other details. Congratulations and best wishes. Check back next week for an awesome, huge, Cake-Boss esque scene cake!!!
Happy Valentines Day! New pictures in the Cupcakes and Cookie Favors picture gallery - lots of red, pink, and white goodies. I made alot of trays of holiday goodies, each tray with cupcakes, buttercream candies in heart shaped boxes, and Valentines themed sugar cookies. The cookies are shiny if you notice, because I have been implementing a new technique of steaming them quickly like the Cake Boss on tv does. The trays are plastic crystal and come wrapped in festive cellophane with ribbon. They start at $45 and would make a lovely addition to your next party. Give one as a gift or treat yourself and your family! Holiday trays of candy, cupcakes, and cookies will be available for St. Patricks Day, Mardi Gras, and Easter, so order yours now! Check back tomorrow for a few more variations of Valentine's treats. Enjoy!
Hi all! Unfortunately because of some website glitches I have been unable to blog. But plenty of new cake pics to check out. From last week: an Ohio State field hockey cake to commemorate a student athlete signing on to play there -- Congratulations!! The OSU cake is chocolate chip and details are fondant or painted with food coloring. Also, a penguin cake for a first grade teacher who loves/teaches penguins. The pictures are a little hard to tell, but the snow was covered in luster dust, sparkling sugar, and rock candy to look like the real thing. I think I have a new favorite arctic animal now! Also, a really cute order from today. The pirate cake and matching cookie favors were for a bridal shower with the theme of "Congratulations on your new crew member." This may be my favorite cake yet! Lots of little details that match the Babies-r-us linens in their nursery. The cake is chocolate chip, red velvet, and white. The cookies are sugar with icing and fondant and tied up with festive checked and striped ribbons to match. Check back next week for some Valentines Day goodies!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year's...best wishes for a happy, healthy 2010!
Check out several new pictures in the Cake Gallery...a 3-D nutcracker and a revolving Christmas tree, which both stood over a foot tall. These cakes were so fun to make...lots of little details so check them out in the pictures. They were pound and chocolate chip. Also new is a variation of the Eagles jersey cake, my most popular design. This one has the birthday's boy name and "22" to mark his 22nd birthday. The jersey was airbrushed and has metallic trim and "sleeves" to look like the real thing. Happy Birthday!! Finally, I am making alot of buttercreams and truffles these days. The most popular are the classic buttercream and chocolate chip cookie dough with walnuts. The candy centers are then hand dipped in rich, semisweet chocolate for a treat that really is to die for. I need to stop eating so many myself!! The best part about the cookie dough truffles is that the filling is not made with raw eggs - so no need to worry about salmonella and it tastes just like the real thing!! Order a box now! Check back next Sunday for a ton of new goodie pictures! A couple new things to check out...first an Elmo 2nd birthday cake and matching cupcakes. The cake and cupcakes were white cake loaded with buttercream icing and piped with red icing fur to match the Sesame Street character. The details and custom sign are made out of fondant. The cupcakes also have matching Elmo papers. Happy Birthday! These pictures are in the Children's Cakes slideshow.
Also, pictures of orders of lemon meringue cookies and holiday sugar cookies are up. The lemon cookies have a thin, flaky crust, and a tart filling that contrasts nicely with the icing rosettes. The sugar cookies are rimmed in sparkling sugar in gold, silver, and white. These orders come in festive boxes for easy transport. These pictures are located in the "Cookie and Cupcake" slideshow. Order your Christmas cookies now to reserve a spot! The possibilities for Christmas cakes are endless...Christmas trees, stand up nutcrackers, gingerbread houses made of cake, stacks of presents cakes, and the list goes on! Also, cupcakes and cookies make excellent edible place cards or gifts and the buttercreams and Italian pizzelles are a tradition, at least in my house! Send me an email or feel free to call! One new cake this weekend and such a fun one too! The cake was for a surprise 40th birthday party for a man who loves his fishing. The cake combined the idea of fishing and also revealed the fact that a surprise trip to Mexico was a birthday present. The chocolate chip cake features fondant decorations, including a somebrero, margarita, maracas, swordfish, Mexican flag, and other beachy elements. The "sand" and purple "coral dust" are all edible - sugar and crushed graham crackers. The cake itself was airbrushed dark blue over lighter blue fondant to give it that oceany look. Happy Birthday!
Happy Early Thanksgiving - check back next weekend for some festive goodies! Hi everyone, lots of new pictures to check out this weekend. The first was a Penn State 21st birthday...and the birthday boy's drink of choice is Yuengling. I am now very familiar with the tiny writing on a Yuengling label! The cooler cake is chocolate chip and buttercream with rock candy "ice." Happy Birthday!
I also made a first birthday cake. I realized I have made the baby shower cake and now the first birthday one! The baby's middle name is Rose and the design incorporates roses and Celtic-knot like stenciling. The stenciling is a new technique, which I picked up after watching TLC's "Cake Boss"! It is covered with the knot design and border and topped with a matching sparkly butterfly. The cake is white with buttercream. Also check out the baby shower cake inspired by a PB kids bedding theme. The cake is carrot and white and buttercream. There are lots of little stars to "find" on the cake as well as 3 teddy bears. Finally, we had two cookie favor orders. The first was various ribbons to represent cancer awareness. The favors were for a Relay for Life function. The other cookie order was for a baby shower, and is a chocolate brown-green-blue theme. Consider ordering favors, which come in a clear treat bag, for Christmas this year! Check back next week! One new cake this week - a "Happy 1st Birthday" Jackolantern! The punkin cake is chocolate chip with fondant details and letters to mimic candy corn. A Happy and Safe Halloween to all!
Hi everyone! Sorry I have not blogged sooner, I have been recovering from the massive invasion of fourth graders at my house for our annual Halloween bash. In fact, that was the occasion for one of the cakes this weekend - the tiered spider number. The cake is three tiers of red velvet (my new favorite and a spooky bloody color!). It is covered with buttercream and fondant and handpainted with black food coloring to make the webs. The spiders are made of fondant rolled in black sugar with edible sugar pearls for eyes. Also from the party are the mini carrot cake bites. Just the right size with a dollop of buttercream and festive sprinkles!
Check out the red and cheetah print 50th birthday cake. The customer and I wanted to achieve height and that topsy turvy look with regular straight tiers. The cake is chocolate chip and red velvet. The "50" topper is hand cut out of fondant. Also new is pictures of Halloween sugar cookies. There are pumpkins, eyeballs, cats, ghosts, and a spider web. They were packaged in clear treat bags with curly orange ribbon. Consider ordering some of these favors for your next event (or Thanksgiving and Christmas!!) Last but not least is a monkey cake for a 2nd birthday. The monkey is 3-D cake and he is holding a number 2 and bunch of bananas. I tried to think of a bad monkey joke to insert here, but I can't. The cake was chocolate chip. What a fun one that was! Off to finish cleaning up party wreckage and on to the next cakes! Check back next week for a Halloween and fall themed birthday cakes! |
